CARE & MAINTENANCE

MELTECA, HPL & ACRYLIC MATT

  • A soft cloth should always be used, apply non-abrasive cleaning products to the cloth rather than directly onto the product.

  • Wipe down with warm water with a small amount of non-abrasive detergent. For best results use streak free glass cleaner with a soft cloth.

  • For textured finishes (Pearl, Puregrain and Woodgrain) the periodic use of a soft brush may be necessary for the removal of dirt build-ups and residues left by some spray on cleaners.

  • Dry with a paper towel or soft cloth. If the stain is still visible repeat this procedure or use a detergent more effective.

 

LACQUERED & PAINTED SURFACES

  • Cleaning Frame:
    Carefully remove any loose surface deposits with a wet sponge.
    Use a soft brush (non abrasive) and a dilute solution of a mild detergent, eg, pH-neutral liquid hand dishwashing detergent in warm water (DO NOT use solvents) to remove dust, salt and other deposits.
    Ensure you thoroughly rinse the surfaces with clean fresh water after cleaning to remove all residues.

  • A soft cloth should always be used, apply cleaning products to the cloth rather than directly onto the product.

  • Wipe with soft cloth warm water with a small amount of detergent. For best results use streak free glass cleaner with a soft cloth.

  • Avoid abrasive cleaners or sponges as they may scratch the surface of your of your furniture.

  • Wipe spills up promptly to avoid water marking and

  • Aggressive rubbing can damage these finishes.

  • Take care not to knock against lacquered finishes with hard objects as this can cause chipping.

  • The use of coasters and place mats will extend the life of your furniture.

 

POWDERCOATING

  • Powder coated Stainless Steel is easy to clean with clear water and any pH-neutral fluid detergent.  
  • If necessary, use a SOFT brush to remove the dirt from the pores, a hard wire brush will leave the surface scratched. To take preemptive steps against dirt adhesion you can apply a Metal Protector that includes Teflon® this applies an invisible protective film that stops dirt sticking to the metalwork. 

 

OUTDOOR STEEL

  • Metal furniture can be cleaned using either clean water or water containing a non-detergent soap. The furniture should then be wiped dry to remove any smears or traces of limescale.  Abrasive sponges should not be used to scrub or spot clean the furniture, and no abrasive powders or other types of detergent should be used.

  • Zinc coating: This finish requires special care. The patina is a very thin coating that can be easily removed. Windex or soap and water are great for day to day cleaning.

 

  FURNITURE TEXTILES

  • Preventative protection sprays can extend the life of your textiles and help with maintenance. Always check with the manufacturer first.

  • Protect fabric from direct sunlight to prevent colour fading.

  • For general cleaning vacuum regularly.

 

WOOD & VENEER

  • Wood and veneers are sensitive to liquids – wipe up spilled liquids promptly.

  • Use a soft damp cloth to clean, and avoid chemical cleaning products.

  • Wood and veneer are affected by light. For the first 6-8 weeks, when the item is first absorbing the surrounding light, keep the surfaces clear of any objects to avoid permanent marks and circles.

Never use any of the following abrasive cleaners: Jif, Ajax, Chemico, Brasso, oven cleaners, neat Janola, wire wool, scourer pads, sandpaper on any of our finishes.

  • The use of coasters and place mats will extend the life of your furniture.

  • Felt pen or dry marker – use methylated spirits or acetone.

 

BLUM & TITUS RUNNERS

  • Blum products are maintenance-free. However, during assembly and usage of Blum products, it is inevitable that stains or other kinds of contamination will appear on the product or its surfaces. When cleaning, make sure to treat the protective areas and materials with care. Avoid applying abrasive chemicals as they will cause damage to the product. The instruction procedures below show how proper treatment should be performed in order to maintain the good condition of the purchased goods.
  • Use only commercial cleaners for stainless steel (usually obtainable as spray). Read carefully the cleaning instructions located on the canister before applying.
  • Rub with a soft, damp cloth. Dry cloth should be used for wet surfaces.
  • Wipe small contaminations with solvent soap (mixed with water) and then mop away the small water drops with a dry cloth.

BASINS

  • Clean the vitreous china immediately after use to stop a build up of dirt and scale using warm soapy water, cream or liquid cleaner.
  • Ensure that any dripping taps are fixed - this will prevent stains and limescale build up.
  • Occasional use of mild bathroom limescale removers is acceptable. Use an accordance with manufacturers instructions, rinsing off immediately with plenty of water.

LIGHTING

  • For a light maintenance clean, you can use either an extendable feather duster or a clean dry lint-free cloth. Likewise for a deeper clean or for more stubborn spots, stick to using a dry cloth.  Do not use abrasive cleaning agents or sponges

 

STONE

  • Clean stone surfaces with a neutral cleaner, stone soap, or a mild liquid dishwashing detergent and warm water. Similar to any item cleaned in your home, an excessive concentration of cleaner or soap may leave a film and cause streaks.

 

CORIAN

  • Use soapy water or an ammonia based cleaner such as Ajax Spray’n’Wipe  along with a clean damp sponge or cloth. Rinse clean.

 

MIRROR

  • The safest cleaner for a mirror is clean, warm water applied with a soft cloth. Be careful not to allow the edges of the mirror to remain wet over a period of time. Do not use any acidic or alkaline cleaners as they can attack the surface and edges.

 

GLASS

  • Clean with warm water, soap or a mild glass cleaner. Wipe over the surface with a cotton wool ball to remove dirt. Rinse with clean water either by dipping the glass object into a bowl of lukewarm water (without detergent) or by wiping with a damp swab.

 

VINYL

  • Gently dab with a mild soapy water solution using a soft cloth or natural sponge. Dry off with a dry sponge. Let the wrap dry naturally.

 

GENERAL

PUSH TO OPEN DRAWER MECHANISM

  • The Blum ‘Push to Open’ drawer mechanism requires pressure applied in the centre of the drawer or even pressure applied either side of the drawer, to release them. Pushing on one side of the drawer only, will cause only one mechanism to function.

DRAWER & WARDROBES OVER 900mmH

  • We recommend that all furniture 900mm high be fixed to the wall for extra stability.

 

SETTING UP FURNITURE ON CARPET OR AN UNEVEN FLOOR

  • All of Mr and Mrs Ward furniture is assembled on an even level surface. Not all floors are level and may inhibit the doors/drawers from opening We can supply packers to fix this.

 

BESPOKE FURNITURE

  • The design and manufacture of all Bespoke furniture is made to the client brief. Mr and Mrs Ward takes no responsibility for the end use of the product, or the warranty on any COM (customers own materials).
